Norwegian wood

BRRRRR, it's positively freezing in Southern Sweden today! To lighten the mood this Norwegian homeowner has opted for a completely white theme for the warm wood panelled walls and floor. What a beautiful home, crammed full of vintage finds. Thank you Your Life for sharing!

In a bit of a rush this morning but I'll pop by later to outline where you can find a few of these lovely things. All the posts this week have been about whites with touches of black and sombre hues. So next week it's definitelty time for colour's that fizz and pop and brighten up the day....

Vintage inspired office spaces

Imagine these office spaces on a daily basis? (oooo that rhymes - I'm a poet and I just don't know it :). Swap flourescent strip lights and withering plants with vintage pendent lamps and beautiful things to look at all day.

Picture: Stylizimo.
What a collection of wonderful vintage things! Source similar at flea markets in your area, or try online at The Old Cinema. You can find shabby chic garden chairs at Petersham Nursery, London or Green Square in Copenhagen.

Picture: found on Lotta Agaton blog. Photographer: Bjarni B Jacobsen.

The pic above and the following two are taken from Oliver Gustav's home shown on Lotta Agaton's lovely design blog. Oliver Gustav lives above his eponymous shop in Copenhagen. His apartment / home office is very rough and ready with a tremendous mix of old and new and certainly beats an open plan office or what?!

I have seen this fantastic large numbered calendar in the design shop at Lousiana, Denmark, does anyone know the name of it? I would love one in my home office, it would be hard to forget the date!

Buy vintage pendent lamps at Lauritz. Source a wired basket from Granit. Buy an orange Wesco bin like this one from Amazon.

And finally,  I love this light and airy office space shown on the Adore Vintage blog.

Roll on Monday morning!

What's up in Oslo

Hello, HELLO! Why not let's visit Oslo today? And a beautiful old apartment that was for sale recently as shown on La maison d'Anna G's wonderful interior design blog. Unsurprisingly the apartment was quickly snapped up! I like the black, white and chocolate brown colour scheme, especially the clever use of chocolate brown on the ceiling in the kitchen. You can only really get away with a dark coloured ceiling if it's very high.

Patterned tiles seem to be popping up everywhere at the moment. Just like the stunning bathroom floor in a previous post. You can buy similar at Made a Mono. Search Lauritz for a similar vintage herb and spices cabinet. Try the Ekby Järpen wall shelves from IKEA.

Buy beautiful portrait prints at Etsy. Shelves, as above. Source a Moka silver coffee pot at Habitiat. The retro look wall tiles are also extremely popular now, try Fired Earth 'Retro Metro' for tiles with the same dimensions as the London Underground.

The butterfly string lights are from Habitat. I have the same ones on the headboard of my little girl's Minnen bed from IKEA, they look so pretty and cosy all lit up!  I love the wood panelled wall painted brown, it creates a really warm mood.

Mountains for your minnies

Just because you look out over cityscapes every morning it doesn't mean you can't bring a touch of nature to your little ones room!  Check out this inspired creation from Family Living where the owner has moved mountains to create a Lapland feel....

Photo: Family Living Photographer: Martin Cederblad
Get the Mountain Morning wallpaper from Uppsala Fototapet. The little sleeping cove can be made from wood panels painted in Flugger's S-0500. Buy Sultan mattresses etc. from IKEA. The pink coloured sheet is from H&M home.

All aboard the mountain express! If you want to go all out..... buy the Mountain Morning WG 211 wallpaper from Uppsala Fototapet (as before).  This is a real Silver birch tree - if they're in abundance in your area and you're allowed, put on that tartan lumber-jack shirt....Source a vintage Kovak cable car on e-bay.

You can find more information on this mountain themed children's bedroom here.

It looks great fun, but I'm not sure if I'd dare. Would you?!

A move to the Swedish countryside

Are you drinking your morning cuppa thinking, 'I wish I was a mile away from this desk'? If so, you'll be inspired by this home owner who packed two suitcases and left Stockholm for Båstad, a beautiful village by the sea in Southern Sweden. The former Swedish summer cottage featured in Lantliv has been lovingly renovated with a mix of old and new. I love the original 1930's stove which is now used to display items, sadly suggesting we install a non-working oven into our kitchen may be a bridge to far for my husband?! The VP Globe light above the dining table adds a modern twist among the flea market finds.

Buy a similar wooden work station table from IKEA.

The dining chairs are Arne Jacobsen 'Grand Prix'. The arm chair is a flea market find and the dining table was handmade.

Could this be your new life? Check out Båstad, Skåne, Sweden!

Making a splash in the bathroom

Hej and happy Sunday! A perfect day to run a deep bubble bath and escape. Check out these bright and airy bathrooms from Danish magazine RUM. I love the use of prints and vintage furniture and accessories to add some warmth and personality. And THAT beautiful patterned floor from Made a Mano? SWOON! What do you reckon?

Picture: RUM. This Agape bath from Casa Shop has been elongated to make maximum use of space and create a shelf to display some of your favourite things. Just don't over run your bath!

Picture RUM. The bath is from Agape CASA SHOP,  Towel FABRIC COPENHAGEN, the lamp is Bernard-Albin Gras CASA SHOP, Mat from HAY.
